Jan Nowell is the Founder and Company Director of the Melbourne-based creative production studio, Arterial Design and Arterial Co Lab. With 17 years of experience in producing visitor experiences, immersive environments, and multimedia across Australia and Asia, the Arterial team specialises in film, animation, CGI, and gamification.

Her company, Arterial Co Lab, is focused on digital production, currently in post-production on the feature-length documentary, "Against the Wind" (working title), which is seeking global distribution in 2026.

Shot in three locations across India, the film follows the extraordinary journey and friendship of two-woman motorbike riders: Candida Louis (India) and Jan Nowell (New Zealand). The documentary highlights how both women resisted traditional cultural expectations to carve out successful careers—one in adventure riding and the other in production. Their shared struggles and friendship as independent motorbike riders and influencers have helped profoundly change the acceptance of women in the motorcycling industry.

Candida Louis is an established icon, having been the first woman to solo circumnavigate India on her motorbike at the age of 23.

Jan Nowell employs a team of 8 permanent creatives and outsources film production work to an established team of DOP's, line producers, editors and sound designers both in India and Australia.
